Download a nearly finished site to your machine. Add and
delete pages to the navigation with ease. Change
button and banner text with ease. Customize page content
to suit your needs. Publish to your FrontPage-enabled
host with the click of a button.
Page Components:
The page components can be changed in any art program. The main page and the parts page
with graphic pieces are
stored in the include file. It is named main-1.
The psd files are stored in images/psd. The template page is set up with the
navigation and include files all ready. Just do a save as
and then add your page to the navigation bar.
Changing Button Names
This is a CSS menu system. Just open up the file navigation.html and make whatever changes you like. You can add, delete or edit buttons. Be sure to add your links to your new pages.
Adding Pages
It's easy to create new pages and add them to
the web site. You can expand the navigation bars
to accommodate as many pages as you need. Just open any page or the template page and do "Save As'. Give it a new name and click save. The old page will remain in your file list so you can use it over and over. Add it to your navigation by following the steps above.
Include Files
The head banner, navigation, & footer,
in this web are Include Files. You will find these files located
in a folder called includes. Editing a single Include
File will allow you to change certain chunks of information,
site wide quickly and efficiently. You can create as many
different files as you like. Includes files are a real time
saver.
To Change The Banner
Open the includes/hd-bnr.htm file. Replace the wording
with your own wording and save. By changing this one page every page will be updated throughout your site. Be sure to keep the file name the same or else you will have to reinsert the banner on each page. Remember any changes to this file will effect every page on your site where this file is inserted. Be sure to maintain the size so that it is compatible in Netscape as well as IE. You can also use FP word art or just type into the square area which is color filled with the Color Dark Blue #1C108E. The banner is styled via the HI.css file.
The top page banner is a graphic on each page. The page title is just typed in for each page.
Extending the Page Length
When extending the page length it is normal for the left
graphics to separate. Should this happen simply place your
curser over the separation until it becomes a 2 headed arrow
and click and drag up and into place. Be sure the blue left
graphic is long enough to cover the page or it won't move.
Also, you can just place your curser in the bottom of the left table and extend the blue by hitting enter several times. This happens when the page gets longer than the graphic in the left table.
Contact Forms
There is a standard contact form and a schedule appointment
form which are presently
configured for FrontPage. It can easily be customized to
suit your needs. It has a customized conformation when the
user hits the submit button and after checking the input it
goes to a page for the user to confirm what they are trying
to submit and then goes to a "Thank You" page. You will have to add your email address if
you want to receive the results by email. Simply right click
anywhere in the form field and select "Form Properties" and
enter your email address. At present both are set to log to an
html page in your _private folder. You can add your email
address in addition to this.
*Important: Do not expect that you will load your template and the form will work. It probably won't. You need to configure it properly. When the package was zipped up it was working fine except the email address used is not yours.. Sometimes when traveling over the web or any movement FrontPage will add some tags into the code. It has to have 1 opening tag (<form> and 1 closing tag </form> Be sure there are no premature closing tags in the script.
