about using a basic htm template

With a basic type template you can more than one design easily. There is always the possibility that your pages may look different when you don't want them to. it is important that you be very careful with any edits or additions.

The difference in using a basic website vs a DWT design is that this will give you the ability to create new pages that carry different template designs as some other pages in a website. The first thing you need to do is to change / edit the files in the include folder. Find these files

• Title and slogan files. title.htm and slogan.htm:
  Open these files and edit your website name and edit/add a slogan
• Info file. topbar-info.htm:
  Open and find this file and add your basic contact information or anything else you might want to appear on this bar.
• Footer info. footer.htm:
  Enter your information in the footer file.
• Navigation. menu.htm
  This file has your website menu and links to the other pages. If you know your pages and links go ahead and edit the file. If not you can always return later to do your update.

As you edit these files and save them all site files will be undated with this information.

TO CREATE A PAGE:

1. The way to create a page simply open the page that has the design that you want to use such as template 1 or template 2. You can also use any existing web page.
2. Click :File" then "Save As" and give the file a new name of your choice.
3. Expression Web will create a page with your title. The original page you used is NOT DELETED. It still remains in your file list.
4. Don't forget to change the page title and any other meta information such as meta tags.
